About the role
Reporting into the Manager, Contract & Relationships, the Major Events Executive is responsible for the contract and relationship management of a diverse portfolio of Major Events across all industries, acquired by Visit Victoria.
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day contract management, relationship and contractual deliverables of a portfolio of events across both sport and creative industries, including representing Visit Victoria on appropriate event committees.
  • Facilitate the delivery of contractual benefits and obligations, maintain event deadlines and complete post event briefing across the portfolio of events.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of Major Events as well as achieving maximum outcomes for Visit Victoria.
  • Track and reconcile budgets and cashflow requirements for a portfolio of events in line with Visit Victoria’s financial reporting processes.
  • Prepare submissions, briefs, research and reports as required by the Visit Victoria executive and Board, Government departments, Ministers and relevant Cabinet committees.
  • Provide support to the Contract and Relationship Management team on contract management processes, systems, and ad hoc projects and activities.
  • Contribute to the ongoing delivery of Visit Victoria’s strategy and the Major Events objective within this strategy. 
This role will involve out of hours work including evening or weekend work, as well as occasional overnight travel.  
 
About you
  • Tertiary qualification related to events, business, management or tourism is preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in the Major Events industry
  • Ability to build relationships and manage senior or complex stakeholders across a range of industries
  • High level communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability and understanding of planning and managing major events and/or related projects, including the ability to manage contracts benefits and obligations
  • Experience in financial management, budgeting and reporting, with the ability to provide insights and analysis from event budgets and funding agreements
  • Knowledge of managing public sector funding is desired
