Exciting Opportunity for an Experience Marketer - Our Client is looking for a Product Marketing Manager

The Client
is an Australian family owned company based in Sydney, specialising in the manufacture of automotive, industrial and ancillary paint products. They are a forward thinking company who prides themselves on the strength of their R&D capabilities, and have successfully introduced a number of new products, specifically designed for the automotive refinish industry.

Overall
 
The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and executing agreed marketing plans for our client, alongside the overall business plan developed by the CEO and Board.
 
The fundamental goal of this position is to drive growth, by initiating programs that profitably attract potential customers and retain existing ones. The role is driven by effective implementation of the key marketing mix elements in this industry; product, price, promotion (including advertising in mainstream and digital media), place (of distribution) and people (internal/external competency, processes and education)
 
The Product Marketing Manager works alongside other executives, teams and business streams to execute these growth and efficiency programs according to agreed budgets and targets. Close relationships with Sales, Finance, Customer Service, R&D, Technical/Colour and Operations are crucial for this individual to complete tasks effectively. A working knowledge of customer needs and requirements is important in understanding market principles and trends. Teamwork and customer engagement are therefore important attributes.
 
The role is a crucial part of the senior management team.
 
Role objectives and responsibilities
  • Establish positioning, identify target audiences, and develop marketing plans with specific objectives across different channels and product/customer segments
  • Lead the execution of marketing programs from start to finish, leveraging internal support and driving collaboration
  • Analyse customer insights, consumer trends, markets dynamics and marketing best practices to build successful strategies
  • Use multiple means to develop key insights for campaign development and in-market strategies. Deliver these via formal proposals to the business.

  • Specifically lead the training and education function, designed to;
    • Build internal Sales capability
    • Educate Trade customers on product features and application methods
    • Develop a suite of training programs for online use by general customers, employees and consumers
    • Use the training resources/capability to help build a substantial social media presence in automotive and industrial paints applications
  • Update senior leadership on the progress of marketing activities and report on the results of campaigns

Day-to-Day duties
  • Manage and coordinate marketing staff, building teamwork within, as well as respect from other departments
  • Work alongside other CP departments to ensure effective and efficient operations in areas such as Sales and Operations Planning, forecasting, new product development process, provide training of product and market skills to key customer-facing staff, etc.
  • Lead market assessments to uncover the viability of current and existing products/services
  • Collaborate with external marketing partners
  • Develop ideas for new products, customer channel opportunities and campaigns
  • Coordinate with the Sales team and other departments to produce effective strategies
  • Monitor progress on current campaigns, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Analyse available data to evaluate the success of marketing efforts and to help generate new ideas to improve brand future exposure
Role scope
  • Product management, including product development, graphic design, labelling

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Preferably in the business, economics, marketing or communication streams. Also, from sciences, if combined with relevant prior marketing experience
  • 5 years of marketing experience
  • 2 years of additional sales experience preferred
