About the Company
This is a business which is a pallet and container pooling services, serving customers in a range of industrial and retail supply chains. This business is looking for a Group Production Leader, whose role is to ensure the pallets & containers are repaired & ready to be sent out to the clients.
This business is looking for a GPL for three sites, Dandenong, Altona & the largest site Derrimut.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the purpose of the tole is to provide leadership in the areas of operations, people management, resourcing, planning and direction to deliver excellence in safety, customer service, quality, production, and cost performance.
The role will be focused on people management, they are looking for someone who has great mentor & people development skills while being organised & well structured.
 
Responsibilities
  • Responsible and accountable for occupational health and safety of employees, contractors and site visitors as per corporate and legislative requirements for the Plan.
  • Manage day to day machine operability and maintenance, equipment breakdowns and liaise with maintenance staff / contractors and Project Engineering
  • Implement current best practice initiatives and drive continuous improvement processes
  • Employee relations; Creating, implementing & ensuring the maintenance of a sound industrial relations culture
  • Provide leadership and direction to front line managers (supervisors/team leaders) including identification of development and training needs
  • Maintain security of assets and provide accuracy of information through SAP
  • Ensure production runs efficiently and effectively within budgetary limits
  • Manage storage, stock rotation, stock levels, forklift and truck movements
  • Manage all line production, labour and stock
 
 
Skills & Experience
This is an exciting and integral role within the business for future growth and your experience and skill set will include the following:
  • Diploma in Front Line Management or equivalent is the minimum requirement
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (Science, Engineering, Business) desirable
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in an automated & people paced industrial production environment Experience in conflict management, negotiation and people management (IR and HR)
  • Problem solving & decision-making experience with ownership & accountability in a similar environment Exposure to continuous improvement processes and practices
  • Previous experience in similar production management role
  • Demonstrated experience in a high-speed production environment troubleshooting complex mechanical / electrical issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
