About the Company
A family-owned business who specialise in packaging foil trays & containers which has been in existence for over 50 years. This business is looking for a OH&S Advisor to join their growing business.

About the Role

The OH&S Advisor role is to ensure the coordination and implementation of health and safety programs, provision of advice and assistance on all safety matters, to all workers, with a strong preventative focus. This also involves participation in the development and further improvement of the WH&S Management System.
 
This role is to develop and maintain a training and development structure and work with managers and supervisors to ensure workers receive the training required to carry out tasks effectively and safely.
 
Responsibilities
  • Ensure all new starters participate in an Induction Program;
  • Record on relevant details on skills matrix eg food safety, quality & WH&S and monthly report statistics for permanent and labour hire workers.
  • Offer appropriate advice and support to the Chief Executive Officer and management as needed relating to OH&S e.g. budget.
  • Establish and implement the organisation’s learning and development policies and procedures and strategies, taking into account of the operating and workplace environment.
  • Ensure the organisation’s learning and development activities are planned to meet current and future organisation and worker needs, whilst operating within budgetary guidelines.
  • Provide workers with health and safety information
  • Record Toolbox meetings and report monthly on key performance indicator.
  • Designated Return to Work Coordinator. Annually review contractor documentation for compliance and notify contractors if any documentation is not compliant.
  • Ensure at all times that work practices are compliant with food safety compliance and GMP requisites such as correct wearing of hairnets/beard snoods, personal hygiene, washing of hands, no personal items allowed in production, PPE clothing is fit for purpose, clean and in good condition.
 
Skills & Experience
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record in Occupational Health & Safety and learning and development. Effective Workplace Training & Assessor would be desirable.
  • High level of written and verbal communications skills and the ability to liaise effectively at all organisational levels, both within and outside of organisation.
  • Very good people and interpersonal skills.
  • Very good Microsoft Word computer skills.
