About the role

This role plays a key part for Queensland’s 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
 
This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining, including the undertaking of research and analysis, for whole of government procurement strategy, policy and guidance that delivers on government’s policy priorities, such as economic, environmental, and social outcomes, and the delivery of value for money.
 
You will be providing expert advice on procurement strategy, policy and guidance and ensuring on-time delivery of quality outputs.
 
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
 
  • Undertaking consultation and engagement with internal and external stakeholders regarding procurement-related strategy, policy, and guidance, including the delivery public presentations.
  • Providing input into and/or reviewing, Cabinet submissions and policy and strategy proposals, to ensure procurement-related issues and opportunities are identified and addressed.
  • Other relevant duties as directed by the Executive Director, Procurement Policy.
 
Criteria:
 
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide high level, strategic, independent, and professional policy advice about complex and sensitive matters, with a focus on government procurement.
  • Demonstrated capacity to successfully deliver projects to deliver on time, to a high-quality standard, and within budget.
  • Demonstrated capacity to research, develop and implement policy and practice which meets government and departmental objectives, and communicate effectively verbally and through presentations, briefs, and reports.
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage, consult and collaborate with government and non-government stakeholders to deliver outcomes that are supported and meet the needs of government.
  • While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, knowledge of contemporary public sector issues and a sound understanding of the procurement environment, is highly desirable.
  • Experience, whether policy or operational, or qualifications in sports administration and/or major event delivery, is highly desirable.
