The Organisation
National Intermodal is an independent developer of critical logistics infrastructure. The organisation facilitates the Australian Government's significant investment of world class, open access intermodal terminals across Australia's east coast.

Six Degrees Executive are exclusively recruiting some key national leadership roles as part of the delivery team to design, build and deliver the remaining projects.
 
The Opportunity
This role can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne.

As the Engineering Manager you will be responsible for the client-side engineering management and delivery of complex multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. You will ensure that the engineering scope of all projects is planned, resourced and implemented to meet the objectives of cost, schedule and quality. The Engineering Manager sets the direction and standards for engineering teams when procuring and delivering the engineering component of projects.

You will take the projects from planning phase through to final business case and delivery readiness. You will support project teams to develop the projects, including detailed scoping, concept and reference design development, risk management, constructability assessment, stakeholder consultation and environmental assessment.
  • Ensure project managers and design consultants comply with National Intermodal's engineering requirements.
  • Actively collaborating across the organisation to ensure that the required project engineering outcomes will be delivered.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to project business cases.
  • Establish and monitor design programs.
Skills and Experience Required
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years' engineering leadership experience ideally in infrastructure or related industries. 
  • Client-side project delivery experience is critical.
  • Previous experience working in the infrastructure industry would be preferable.
  • Demonstrate capability in management of multi disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Detailed understanding of relevant Australian codes and standards, safety in design processes and risk assessments.
  • Leadership of project teams and effective management of subconsultants and contractors.
  • Skilled in qualitative and quantitative risk assessment and development of risk controls and actions required for the successful delivery of projects.
  • Preparing high quality engineering documentation and presentation material
