About:
Working with a state government client, this infrastructure team undertakes to identify and deliver a suite of State-led tourism projects and infrastructure concepts across Queensland that will deliver environmental, economic, and social benefits. State-led tourism projects are those where a state delivery or de-risking function is likely to be required. This includes creating new and iconic adventure and nature-based tourism experiences that will grow the ecotourism sector and other projects that will diversify the Queensland’s tourism offering.
This team will be delivering complicated and high-profile projects, and therefore we’re seeking candidates with extensive technical and infrastructure project delivery experience.
Experience working with Traditional Owners, or an understanding of Native Title issues and process is highly desirable.

Key responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership, direction and motivation to establish and maintain an integrated and effective program and project team.
- Develop, implement, and lead a deliberative process to build a pipeline of priority State-led tourism infrastructure projects, including evaluating and championing project concepts from inception to the delivery phase through bespoke market facing procurement processes and delivery pathways.
- Collaborate with other team leaders in the division and department to ensure state projects effort in well-coordinated and aligned with other programs.
- Undertake negotiations and formulate and provide advice for the General Manager, Deputy Director-General, Director-General, the Minister and Cabinet to help bring into existence priority State-led tourism projects that deliver whole of government outcomes including enhancement of Queensland’s tourism offering with consequential economic, social, and environmental benefits.
- Develop and maintain strong business relationships with core stakeholders and key government officers to maintain confidence in projects and effectively gather high level market intelligence to manage emerging issues, disputes, risks and undertake negotiations with proponents.
- Lead the feasibility, procurement (including concluding high value transactions with private sector proponents) and delivery/contract administration stages of an endorsed State-led project including complex and varied policy, legal, commercial and project delivery matters including early and meaningful Traditional Owner engagement.
- Ensure documentation and market facing processes developed for and during procurement and administration phases are fit-for-purpose, commercially and legally robust, and endorsed in line with relevant government approvals.
- Drive a strong governance culture within the team so that staff maintain accurate, fit for purpose and up-to-date contract documentation (including contract management plans), issues and risks registers, procedures, data, and records.
- Direct project delivery within the allocated budget, schedule and quality requirements and provide advice and work with relevant departmental managers to ensure the program maintains and operates within its required people and budget resourcing.
