Project Commercial Manager
The Organisation
We are excited to partner with our client National Intermodal on a nationwide infrastructure project that will fundamentally change the future of freight movement across Australia. Part of an independently run organisation, several very significant $1bn+ projects will be delivered across the East Coast over the next 10 years, with some projects already part operational. Six Degrees are exclusively recruiting some key national leadership roles as part of the delivery team to design, build and drive commercial outcomes. .
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Project Commercial Manager reporting through to the Manager, Contracts and Procurement to drive accountability and coordination of commercial aspects of major contracts, partnership arrangements and joint ventures. We are seeking someone who has that big picture – strategic, innovative and visionary skill set combined with a detail orientated approach who can execute and plan ahead, as this role requires strong interface management and influencing skills across a number of strategic relationships.
Key accountabilities will be:
• Ensure project managers, contract administrators and all relevant project staff understand and comply with commercial requirements in all major contracts with developers, partners and construction contractors.
• Coordinate the commercial position regarding contractual claims and commercial disputes.
• Lead identification and quantification of major project scope changes and all subsequent negotiation of commercial outcomes.
• Financial management – ensure strong contract, commercial and financial risk management, and forecasting of costs.
Skills and Experience Required
• At least 10 years plus experience, in a similar role ideally driving commercial and financial outcomes for complex infrastructure projects.
• Tertiary qualifications, in either Law, Commerce, Engineering, and/or Quantity Surveying.
• Advanced skills in procedures for project contract administration, general business administration, project and cost management
• Skills in quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and development of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.
• Reporting and compliance with respect to commercial performance and legislation/codes and statutory requirements.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence without authority and drive outcomes through others.
• Self-motivated, astute and a high level of initiative, coupled with agility and adaptability.
• Ability to lead project teams, problem solve and have a CI mindset.
