Our client is an established and highly regarded third-party logistics service provider, widely recognised as a leader in their field. Due to continued growth in their interstate transport function they now have an amazing opportunity available for an experienced logistics professional to lead their PM shift at a large, high-volume transport hub in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs, in the newly created role of PM Transport Operations Manager.
 
 
About the Opportunity
The PM Transport Operations Manager is a critical leadership position wholly responsible for site safety and the productivity of a high-volume Afternoon (2pm – 10pm) Shift for this organisation. In addition to leading a ‘safety first’ culture and driving improved outcomes in employee performance and customer service levels throughout the shift, additional accountability includes:


  • Analysis of incoming freight volumes and upcoming customer requirements to ensure that your shift is adequately resourced with the right mix of people and equipment to meet service levels for all linehaul movements dispatched throughout the shift.
  • Leading a small operations team responsible for the safe and productive unloading of PUD freight and subsequent loading of Linehaul equipment, in addition to administration (ie. manifesting) throughout the shift.
  • Ensuring that all site-based processes and standard operating procedures (SOP’s) on your PM shift are aligned to broader business strategy around safety, service and cost.
  • Lead a performance driven culture and a team who collaborate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders, maximising customer service levels and optimal distribution network efficiency.
 
 
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will be an established transport professional with a demonstrated track record of success in the 3PL industry. You will have in depth knowledge of multiple modes of distribution, with particular strength in interstate linehaul movements. Commercially astute and operationally strong, you will be a natural leader of people and possess first class interpersonal and demonstrated influencing abilities.
