An amazing opportuinity to join a market leading retail business based in Tasmania. 

We are looking for an Accountant to assist the Head of Finance manage all corporate accounting, finance, and administrative tasks. This includes, but is not limited to, the preparation of management financial statements, statutory reports, managing tax obligations, and the calculation and payment of rebates to eligible members of the co-operative. The incumbent will be required to complete payables, receivables, payroll, and other administrative tasks on a regular basis to provide leave coverage for both the Senior Finance and Admin Assistant, and the Accounts and Administration Clerk. Project work will be required to create efficiency gains and improve internal controls. This will include assistance with the implementation of a new ERP system, and other financial management systems.

Key Accountabilties: 
  • Weekly and monthly journals
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Payroll tax
  • Charge through invoicing
  • Supplier payments
  • Retailer invoicing
  • Accurate and timely processing of weekly and monthly journals
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and reporting on actual to budget results
  • Draft statutory accounts
  • Prepare monthly payroll tax returns
  • Maintain fixed asset register
  • Compliance with corporate timetable
  • Compliance with Australian Taxation Office and State Revenue Office requirements
Key Requirements:
  • CA/CPA Qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an accounting or audit role
  • Experience in a business support role (payables, receivables, or payroll) highly desired
  • Strong computer literacy
  • High level efficiency in excel spreadsheets, word processing
  • Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
