Are you passionate about process optimisation and driving operational excellence within food manufacturing industry? Are you a Lean Six Sigma expert with a proven track record of successfully implementing continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Continuous Improvement Consultant.
 
Six Degrees Executive are looking to speak to Continuous Improvement and Process Improvement candidates who are interested in taking on a contract role on behalf of our Client, an Australian company, who are leaders in the manufacturing of flour, ingredients and bakery products.
 
The contract period will initially be for 6 months, however this can be negotiated (extended/reduced) for the right candidate. The role is based at the Taren Point site in the Sutherland Shire NSW with flexible working options like hybrid and part time available.
 
Responsibilities include:
 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvement opportunities, analyse current processes, and develop strategies for implementation.
  • Lead Lean Six Sigma projects, utilising data-driven methodologies to identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and optimise manufacturing processes.
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma principles and tools, such as value stream mapping, DMAIC, root cause analysis, and statistical analysis, to drive improvements in quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Partner with production teams to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop visual management systems to monitor and sustain process improvements.
  • Act as a change agent, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and providing guidance to employees at all levels.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of processes to identify areas for optimisation and standardisation.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of improvement initiatives, highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities for further enhancement.
 
Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt) or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a Lean Six Sigma practitioner within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food or flour industry.
  • Strong knowledge and application of Lean Six Sigma methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • An understanding of bread and flour manufacturing processes, including milling, blending, baking, and packaging (not mandatory)
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver results within specified timelines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
