Our client is a high profile service provider headquartered in Melbourne. Their organisation has recently experienced rapid growth and transformation and as a result they currently have an amazing opportunity available for a senior logistics professional in the capacity of Head of Distribution Centre Operations.
 
About the Opportunity
Reporting to Director level and leading a large team across multiple locations, the Head of Distribution Centre Operations is a critical role responsible for managing the safe, efficient and effective operation of regional Distribution Centres and a complex transport network connecting those to its varied customer base. In this high-profile leadership role, you will have full commercial responsibility alongside operational, and lead additional functions including facilities and administration management. Specific accountability includes:
  • Leveraging people and technology to streamline distribution centre operations to maximise efficiency and deliver an outstanding customer experience.
  • Developing and driving a functional culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Effective forward planning and resourcing of the entire distribution network to optimise DC capacity, assets and equipment, and resources.
  • Overseeing a large, high value inventory holding across multiple stock locations.
  • Effective supplier relationship and performance management, particularly as it relates to 3rd party transport provision.
 
Skills & Experience Required
The successful candidate will be a senior logistics professional with a demonstrated track record of success leading large distribution centre and transport functions in the FMCG, retail or 3PL industry. You will have had experience overseeing a multi-site distribution network, driving efficiencies and improving customer service levels. Ideally tertiary qualified in a relevant field, you will possess first class interpersonal and influencing abilities, alongside your demonstrated leadership qualities.
