We are working with a business who specialize in the implementation of large-scale renewable energy and infrastructure projects. The team comprises highly skilled energy experts who are passionate about electricity.
We are looking for a highly skilled  Commissioning Engineers & Protection & Control Testers to join their team. As a Commissioning Engineers & Protection & Control Testers, you will play a critical role in facilitating and leading commissioning activities on major electrical projects. Your expertise as a subject matter expert in testing and commissioning of primary and secondary equipment will be vital to the success of our projects.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Testing and Commissioning: Perform HV testing and commissioning of primary equipment ranging from 415V - 500kV, including power transformers, auxiliary transformers, circuit breakers, current transformers, voltage transformers, rectifiers, and switchgear.
  2. Conduct secondary injection relay testing in various environments, including transmission, distribution, generation, and traction.
  3. Perform electrical testing on complex systems in both greenfield and brownfield environments, adhering to established company practices, processes, and standards to meet customer needs efficiently.
  4. Test a wide range of protection relays and control devices, including those for transformers, buses, lines, generators, motors, CB management, and control schemes.
  5. Test SCADA systems and communication systems to ensure seamless integration and performance.
  6. Test and integrate AC and DC control systems for smooth operation.
  7. Plan and integrate new protection and control schemes into new and existing 'in-service' setups.
  8. Provide training and support to operations personnel and project teams, including testers, technicians, and electricians.
  9. Develop innovative commissioning strategies to minimize project expenditure and enhance efficiency.
  10. Compose and compile acceptance documentation and report project status from a commissioning perspective.
  11. Provide effective high-level specialist engineering support and advice related to testing and commissioning of primary and secondary electrical equipment.
  12. Responsible for continuous technical development, staying updated with the latest technologies, control equipment, and work practices.
 
Education/Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in testing and commissioning primary and secondary protection and control equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge of power systems protection principles and applications.
  • ESI Diploma is highly regarded but not essential.
  • Proven ability to develop and lead commissioning activities in the electrical utility industry.
  • Experience or exposure to IEC 61850 testing principles .
