Responsibilities: As the Capital Projects Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of capital works projects while aligning with strategic objectives. Your key responsibilities will include:
Safety, Health, and Environment:
- Participate in safety initiatives, including safety walks, to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure zero safety incidents by enforcing adherence to safety policies and conducting regular safety assessments.
- Facilitate risk assessments for project-related tasks and ensure compliance with permit-to-work protocols.
- Manage the end-to-end project delivery process, from scoping to handover, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and define project requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure project success.
- Supervise contractors to ensure work packages are completed to specifications.
- Oversee plant and equipment installation and commissioning, ensuring operational readiness.
- Develop project proposals aligned with business objectives and seek funding approvals.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and new project initiatives.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure sound project direction.
- Determine project costs and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Monitor and control project budgets, forecasting costs as needed.
- Facilitate proper capitalization of projects and communicate with Finance.
- Support a performance-based culture through the Performance, Development & Review (PDR) Program.
- Provide technical support to operational sites to enhance performance.
- Foster effective relationships with internal departments and external bodies.
Requirements: To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and capabilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience managing capital projects from concept to handover, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes.
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Financial acumen and experience in budget management.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Prior experience in liaising with government bodies, councils, and consultants is a plus.
