About the company

We are excited to be partnering with our client, a global family-owned food business in growth mode with a particular focus on the Australian division of their business.  Nimble and entrepreneurial, this business is looking to develop several new ingredients within the industrial market.  As a result of identifying growth opportunities, this is a newly created role and an opportunity to join the business as Business Development Manager within their industrial sales division.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, Commercial, you will relish the opportunity to growth and develop several key ingredients, selling into the industrial manufacturers and distributors where those products are essential.  You will identify new opportunities, open doors, build key relationships and establish new networks and customers within the commercial sector.   You will action the strategy for the commercial division by building the industrial ingredients portfolio, with a focus on selling and growth via key manufacturers and distributors.  There are opportunities for selling in QSR markets also.  You will bring in new business and nurture your accounts as part of the role.  There is also an opportunity to develop and manage a team as your division grows.

Skills and experiences

  • Prior experience as a BDM or Sales Executive within the industrial ingredients market, selling into manufacturers or distributors
  • Actively chase and bring in new business, including identifying the right customers - prospecting through to execution of contract
  • A technical understanding for formulation and understanding of ingredient target markets
  • Selling into site & procurement; an understanding of developing relationships with key stakeholders, including pricing, R&D technologists, procurement, etc.
  • Capability and capacity to sell into the QSR market
  • Understanding & working with annual forecasts
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
