National Logistics Officer
Foodbank – National Logistics Officer
The company: I’m currently working exclusively with the charity Foodbank who are Australia’s largest food relief organisation. They provide more than 70% of the food rescued for food relief organisations nation-wide. Last year, they sourced the equivalent of 82 million meals for their 2,950 charity partners, providing food relief to more than a million people each month.
The role: Working as the National Logistics Officer, you will be tasked with supporting the GM – Supply Chain to take care of Foodbank Australia’s logistics/transport needs with a focus on ensuring that the business is able to maximise the usage of the pro bono support they receive from National Donors/Logistics Partners, as well as arranging low bono support where required. To do this, you will have to nurture relationships with existing National Donors/Logistics Partners, knowing when to ask for support as well as branching out and looking to establish new relationships with new Donors/Logistics Partners who are not yet engaged with Foodbank. Once a donation comes through, the National Logistics Officer will work to arrange collection and distribution of the goods to the state Foodbanks, by working/liaising with donors and the state foodbanks, to decide the most efficient and effective way to send them and how best to go about moving them around the national network.
