Our client is a world leading name in the manufacture of electronic products and systems across a broad range of industries and applications. This role will sit in the Rail Services division, which manufactures, supplies and maintains electrical equipment for locomotives and rolling stock.
The Opportunity
Due to an internal move combined with the uptake of a significant major project, our client is looking for an experienced mid-senior level Project Manager. This role will be based in Western Sydney in a Head Office environment, however the Head Office is attached to a wider site with a manufacturing workshop as well as a large warehouse. As a Project Manager you will be reporting into the General Manager, Operations. The immediate project you will jump into is an equipment supply and long-term maintenance contract for a number of electronic systems and subsystems used in the rail industry, primarily on the rolling stock and locomotives side. The company has a very positive, long-term culture with the average tenure of employees in being over 10 years. - Manage the engineering deliverables for rail projects including design reviews, technical reports, warranty matters etc.
- Plan and manage labour resources and project assets.
- Risk assessments.
- Budgeting, forecasting, cost control and reporting.
- Working closely with the wider project team including the Engineering Team to produce project deliverables.
Skills and Experience Required
- For this role given that our client works with a number of government and defence entities our preference is to target Australian Citizens. If you have Permanent Resident you will still be considered. However if you are on a Visa unfortunately we will not be able to consider you for this role.
- Previous experience working in the Rail (or adjacent industry) ideally in an engineering and technical project management capacity would be ideal. Our client is a SUPPLIER for rail systems so if you've been on the supplier end that would be ideal. Secondary to that, we are also happy to consider similar industry experience within an environment working within strict regulations and safety standards.
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering or another technical degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a relevant project management role.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholder managers.
