HSE Manager
About the company
This is a successful and growing privately owned Australian FMCG that makes both their own branded food products and also does third party manufacture and packaging across local and export markets. They have a strong relationship with the major retailers because of their ability to commercialise innovation opportunities quickly in response to the market, and their flexibility in being able to run both large and small volume products. As a multi-generational family owned enterprise, they have created a balance where they're small enough that people can feel a sense of belonging and can see the positive impact of their efforts, but large enough to produce great products for top tier customers, and to create opportunities for their people through their growing structure.
About the role
The business has a broad operational footprint which creates the foundation for an interesting and varied role as an HSE Manager with different risk profiles - you'll have full ownersihp of the safety program across their manufacturing and warehouse operations, their corporate offices including the sales force, and a hospitality venue. The business doesn't have any major unmanaged risks or significant audit gaps to close, but are seeking to increase their HSE capability - this means there is likely to be a lot of room for continuous improvement and to validate that their system is fit for purpose, and an opportunity to work closely with the leadership team, the owners, and right across the business, to embed the safety culture by leveraging its ethical, practical, and commercial drivers. This role is autonomous so would suit someone who has led safety for a site, but not someone who wants to be 'hands off.'
About you
You're likely someone who has held direct accountability for the safety program at a manufacturing site, or someone in a safety business partner / advisor type role (or equivalent) who is ready for the next step up in their career.
Why apply?
There is plenty of 'meat on the bone' in this role - you'll have a diversity of risk profile between manufacturing, corporate, sales force, and hospitality, and you'll be able to flex your business and commercial acumen because you will be engaging directly with company owners as well as their leadership . The role would suit someone who wants to have ownership of the system and the strategy, but who also wants to drive and embed the outcomes directly. For someone who is motivated and wants to make an impact, this role doesn't just have to be about managing risk and ensuring compliance - if you can align your projects and initiatives to business objectives, there are few limits to what you'll be supported in pursuing.
