Reporting directly to the CEO and responsible for the City of Melbourne’s most iconic, innovative and complex projects, this key member of the ELT will provide strategic advice to Council, CEO and Directors overseeing a portfolio of projects and capital works across more than $3.5 billion worth of infrastructure assets, as well managing a significant commercial property portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a diverse, cross functional team
- Effective oversight of a complex range of major projects and capital works, including the Greenline Project and Queen Victoria Market Renewal Project
- Leading project delivery within agreed timelines and budgets while factoring in the implications of major disruptions across the City
- Ensure appropriate governance, controls and reporting is established to maintain oversight and effective communications with stakeholder groups including the publics’ perception
- Liaising with the community on key strategic capital programs and initiatives
- Ensuring CoM continues to win design excellence awards for urban design, landscape architecture, architecture and industrial design
- Effective commercial asset management of a multi-billion dollar property portfolio including leasing, acquisition, divestment and maintenance
- Champion collaboration across the organisation and all departments to ensure effective delivery of outcomes
About you:
You bring an impressive portfolio of successful projects – big, small, diverse and for community. You are a seasoned thought and people leader with exceptional technical skills and business acumen, ready to make a difference and feel connected to your work through real tangible community outcomes.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in the provision of capital works, infrastructure design and asset management gained from within the government sector
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills; acts as an advisor to the CEO, peers, community and Councillors
- Deep knowledge of relevant frameworks, statutory obligations and legislation
- Proven capacity to successfully lead and deliver large scale projects in a highly complex environment
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (engineering or similar)
