The Organisation
National Intermodal is an independent developer of critical logistics infrastructure, facilitating the Australian Government's significant investment into world class, open access intermodal terminals across the east coast. As a Government Business Enterprise, National Intermodal are wholly owned by the Commonwealth of Australia and have a strategic priority to improve supply chain resilience, increase logistics efficiency, and improve sustainability. This will benefit local infrastructure and connect Australian exporters to the global market.
Six Degrees Executive are exclusively recruiting for a newly created position within their commercial function which is imperative to the successful delivery of this large infrastructure project.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the GM Contracts and Procurement, this position focuses on working alongside the project and corporate leaders to plan, support and execute National Intermodals contracting and procurement package obligations. The role will be key in the delivery of complex construction tenders, working alongside internal and external Engineers, Project Managers and Service Providers to coordinate project plans, assess risks, construct pricing schedules, and deliver strategic sourcing and contract strategies.
This position will be required to cover a wide range of duties and responsibilities with some of the key ones being:
Skills and Experience Required
Given the importance of the project it is expected that applicants will possess significant contracts experience in a construction orientated industry, preferably within a large project or infrastructure sector. Experience within a government environment, having familiarity of the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, would be beneficial, and a track record working with technical documents from engineers and construction project managers would also be advantageous. From your experience in the construction industry, you will have the experience and knowledge to identify potential risks and pitfalls that a large project of this kind may encounter, and how to manoeuvre them successfully. A Tertiary qualification in a commercial or procurement related discipline would be beneficial.

The role is expected to be based in Melbourne yet we are open to interstate interest and there will be travel involved across the offices and sites of the project.

- Work with stakeholders and subject matter experts to clarify, define and refine C&P requirements and statements of work for each contract package.
- Coordinate with GM’s and budget holders to identify goods and services required by the business and keep the corporate contracts and procurement plan and / or project package registers up to date.
- Manage complex tender processes from start to finish, in line with the company policy and framework for minor and major engagements.
- Manage, update, and revise corporate and project C&P plans and registers.
- Coordinate Procurement Board documentation for contract packages
