The Role:

Six Degrees is excited to be partnering with a large QLD Government client in the recruitment of an AO8 Risk Manager. The purpose of this role is to lead and manage an effective risk management strategy, providing information and support that ensures the division's program and project risk and compliance management frameworks are effectively implemented to reduce risks to manageable levels in program and project delivery. In this role, you will communicate risk policies, processes, and procurement for programs and projects. You will also ensure risk and compliance for the program and projects are adhered to, ensuring consistency and quality assurance. Additionally, this role supports the broader needs of the department's program teams and projects, providing strategic insights.

We are looking for someone with a risk management background in ICT / Infrastructure projects with strong leadership experience.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure adherence to service quality standards, health, and safety policies for high-quality, safe workplaces.
  • Implement and support risk management processes for programs and projects.
  • Conduct risk assessments and evaluations, identifying and comparing potential risks.
  • Identify risk owners and define acceptable risk levels for programs and projects.
  • Develop risk management plans and support reviews.
  • Tailor risk reports for key stakeholders, highlighting significant risks and their potential impact.
  • Explain external risks, such as market saturation, to stakeholders.
  • Conduct compliance audits and liaise with auditors on risk and issue management.
  • Analyse and share risk trends, recommending best practices.
  • Escalate risks, propose solutions, and seek necessary approvals.
  • Build risk awareness through staff training and support.
  • Provide timely, expert advice on risk management to project teams.
  • Identify emerging risks and collaborate on innovative governance solutions.
  • Lead risk reporting frameworks for capital projects and ensure ongoing monitoring.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance and accurate reporting on risk activities.
  • Lead and continuously improve risk and compliance management processes for projects.
  • Coordinate risk management across the project lifecycle to ensure consistency.
  • Identify and recommend strategies for improvement within a fast-paced work environment.
  • Supervise staff according to modern HR practices and ensure adherence to health, safety, ethical standards, and anti-discrimination policies.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and advice on complex and time-critical risk management issues to senior management.
Mandatory Qualifications, Registrations, and Requirements:
  • A relevant qualification in Project Methodology or Project Management is preferred but not mandatory. 
Role Fit:
  • Expertise in managing operational-level project risks.
  • Strong skills in conducting risk reviews and leading the implementation of risk management across multiple projects.
  • Analytical, organized, and capable of maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • High standard of communication, presentation, and risk management.
  • Provide quality assurance for risk and compliance management.
