This is a unique opportunity to lead a national movement that sits at the intersection of food, education, community, and health.
About the Foundation

Founded by renowned Australian cook and food educator Stephanie Alexander AO, the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that supports educators and communities across Australia to deliver pleasurable food education to children and young people.
Their programs promote lifelong positive food habits, sustainability, and wellbeing through hands-on experiences in growing, harvesting, preparing and sharing fresh food. The Foundation partners with schools, early learning centres, community organisations, government, philanthropy and business to create long-term impact.

The Opportunity

The CEO will lead the Foundation through its next phase of strategic growth and innovation. Key priorities include:
  • Leading a dedicated team in a culture that values flexibility, inclusion and impact
  • Building high-value, purpose-aligned partnerships across government, corporate and philanthropic sectors
  • Driving national advocacy efforts in preventative health, food systems, sustainability and education
  • Growing diversified revenue streams, including corporate partnerships, major gifts, and membership-based models
  • Maintaining close alignment with Stephanie Alexander AO, ensuring the Foundation’s mission and legacy remain at the heart of all strategic decisions
This role requires not only strategic capability and sector credibility, but emotional intelligence, approachability and the ability to unite and inspire people.

What We’re Looking For

You’re an experienced CEO or senior executive with deep NFP/philanthropy expertise and stakeholder influence and a credible, confident and values-aligned leader with deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities ideally in one or more of the following sectors:
  • Preventative health or public health promotion
  • Food systems, agriculture, or sustainability
  • Education or community-based programming
  • Membership-based or not-for-profit organisations
You are:
  • A skilled negotiator and networker, comfortable influencing diverse stakeholders at senior levels including state and federal government
  • Adept at securing sustainable funding and building long-term donor and partner relationships
  • An emotionally intelligent and modern leader, with a coaching or transformational style
  • Passionate about equity, access, and community-led change
