About the opportunity
Six Degrees is proud to partner with a leading food business in Melbourne's northern suburbs. With a strong focus on high quality product and significant investment across the network, this presents a great leadership opportunity for a future manufacturing leader to take that step up into production leadership. The business is currently undergoing an exciting period of capability uplift and increased demand, creating opportunity to look at efficiencies, process improvement and driving these across an engaged workforce. About the role
Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, the Production Manager will be responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations across multiple lines, ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety standards are met while helping to embed a culture of accountability and performance. The business is in a period of transformation (uplift in maturity), so this role offers the unique chance to contribute to both current operations and future-state strategy.
From a day-to-day perspective, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Leading and developing a team of supervisors and line operators to meet production targets
  • Driving manufacturing performance through daily KPI management, continuous improvement and coaching
  • Ensuring production schedules are met while maintaining food safety, GMP and quality standards
  • Collaborating closely with quality, maintenance and supply chain teams to support cross-functional outcomes
  • Championing a safety-first mindset and promoting a strong operational culture
What we are looking for:
This opportunity would best suit a people-centric production leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and has some change management experience under their belt. Beyond that, broad profile includes:
  • Proven experience in a production or operations leadership role, ideally within food, beverage or FMCG manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of GMP, food safety, and quality systems
  • Experience managing teams in a shift-based, multi-line environment
  • Natural leader with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exposure to lean or continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Food Science, Engineering, or related disciplines well regarded.
