Partnering with a well-known Australian food manufacturer, this organisation has built a reputation for quality, consistency and innovation across their core product range. They are currently seeking an experienced HSE Manager for a temporary contract (3-4 months) based at their manufacturing facility in Melbourne's Western suburbs. This hands-on role will be responsible for maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards on site, supporting both day-to-day operations and contractor management during a busy period.
About the Role
You will be responsible for upholding and driving best-practice health, safety, and environmental standards across the site. It’s a hands-on position that will see you working closely with both internal teams and external contractors, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and supporting day-to-day site operations during a period of increased project and production activity. This role requires someone who is confident, solutions-focused, and able to take ownership of HSE responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Oversee site health and safety practices, ensuring compliance with OH&S legislation
- Conduct inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions for staff and contractors
- Monitor and manage documentation including SWMS, permits, and incident reports
- Carry out site inspections and audits, identifying and addressing hazards
- Support contractor management, ensuring pre-qualification and onboarding requirements are met
- Promote a strong safety culture and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with investigations and corrective actions if incidents occur
- Previous experience in a similar HSE role within manufacturing, industrial, or related sectors
- Solid understanding of OH&S regulations and site safety procedures
- Confident working with contractors and influencing safety behaviours on site
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Available for an immediate start and open to short-term contract work
- A hands-on, impactful role within a well-established manufacturing environment
