About the business 

Highly visible Australian household name with a long, rich history in the market and significant scale across the country. The business has invested heavily in an exciting impending acquisition that will expand the network of stores with hundreds of stores across ANZ. A strong leader is required in this newly created role to shape the next phase of strategy across people and operations. 

What you'll be doing: 

As the National Risk, Safety and Wellbeing Manager - Retail, you'll be the leader at the centre of driving safe outcomes during a period of large-scale growth and transformation. You'll partner with key decision makers across the retail network, influencing decision making and embedding a culture that goes beyond "compliance" into proactive and forward-thinking risk management. You will: 

  • Lead national safety strategy across a diverse retail footprint from flagship metro sites to regional store locations. 
  • Build capability at all levels of the business, both inside function and laterally, developing safety ownership with leaders and frontline teams. 
  • Drive a mindset of continuous improvement for the business, taking compliance and elevating towards proactive safety culture
  • Influence senior leaders with data-driven reporting and solutions that balance operational delivery with strong safety and wellbeing outcomes. 

Who are you? 

You are a proven safety leader with experience in large complex, customer-facing industries such as retail, hospitality and services. You're credible working at multiple levels of the business, comfortable presenting to boardroom executives without losing the ability to connect with teams on the shopfloor. You bring experience managing change at scale, whether through cultural uplift projects, network growth or expanded remits.
