Interim Chief Financial Officer 6-Month Contract | Start Early October | Melbourne

Our client is a privately owned, highly profitable consulting firm with multiple shareholders is seeking an experienced Interim CFO to help steer the business through a period of growth and transformation. The Role
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board, this interim role will provide leadership across all aspects of finance, governance, and operations. Key responsibilities include:
  • Financial Leadership: Ownership of financial strategy, P&L and balance sheet, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and variance analysis.
  • Cashflow & Capital Management: Oversee liquidity, working capital, banking relationships, debt facilities, dividends, and shareholder reporting.
  • Governance & Company Secretary: Support the Board with compliance, reporting, statutory obligations, and corporate governance frameworks.
  • Commercial Operations: Manage supplier negotiations, contracts, procurement, and property leases. Provide commercial input into pricing, tenders, and business cases for investment.
  • Technology & Transformation: Oversee IT and outsourced tech partners, ensuring finance systems and broader technology platforms remain fit-for-purpose, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and emerging tools such as automation and AI.
  • Leadership: Manage a local and offshore finance team, driving accountability, engagement, and performance. Partner with executives to deliver insights, improve processes, and support scaling.
  • Continuous Improvement: Challenge the status quo, implement cost control initiatives, and identify opportunities for efficiency and value creation.
About You
We are seeking a proven CFO with experience in professional services, consulting, or agency-style businesses. You will bring:
  • CA or CPA qualifications
  • Significant experience as a CFO or Finance Director, ideally in a professional services or multi-stakeholder environment
  • Strong financial strategy, reporting, and governance expertise
  • Proven success in cost management, cashflow oversight, and commercial decision-making
  • Experience with M&A, capital management, and shareholder engagement
  • Board and Company Secretary experience
  • Strong leadership style with the ability to inspire teams locally and offshore
  • A pragmatic, hands-on approach combined with gravitas to influence at board level
