Our client partner, Trader House, is a collective of iconic restaurants, bars and retail businesses across Melbourne and Brisbane, owned by Andrew McConnell and Jo McGann. Their venues are chef led, design considered and culturally grounded. Craft, consistency and guest experience sit at the centre of every decision, on the plate, in the room and across every brand touchpoint. The portfolio includes Gimlet, Apollo Inn, Supernormal, Cumulus Inc., Cutler & Co., Marion, Builders Arms Hotel, Supernormal Brisbane, Bar Miette, Morning Market and Meatsmith. Each venue holds a distinct identity and cultural point of view. Marketing within Trader House is centred on building and protecting distinctive brands that deliver long term commercial performance.
The Role
Trader House is recruiting two Brand Managers: Brand Manager Retail and Brand Manager Restaurants, Bars and Pubs. Both roles are structurally similar, with portfolio allocation differing.
You will be the primary marketing owner for your venues. You will plan, execute and optimise day to day marketing activity while contributing to broader brand direction. Working closely with the Marketing Director and collaborating with Venue and Guest Services teams, you will ensure marketing activity is commercially effective, brand aligned and culturally grounded.

Key Responsibilities
Brand and Marketing Planning
- Develop clear, prioritised annual marketing plans and quarterly calendars
- Translate each venue’s role within the portfolio into actionable strategy
- Balance brand building initiatives with revenue driving activity
- Align marketing priorities with trade performance alongside Venue and Guest Services teams
Budget and Performance
- Manage marketing budgets across allocated venues
- Track KPIs including database growth, engagement and campaign performance
- Contribute to monthly reporting and performance reviews
- Identify acquisition and retention opportunities
Campaign Execution
- Lead campaigns from concept through to execution
- Write briefs, timelines and campaign copy
- Build and brief email campaigns in partnership with Digital
- Coordinate assets across social, email, website and in venue touchpoints
Content and Creative
- Develop content plans aligned to brand positioning
- Lead photoshoots and video shoots
- Collaborate with the Designer and external creative partners
- Work closely with chefs and venue teams to drive authentic storytelling
- Support the development and maintenance of Brand Books
Social and Channel Strategy
- Own social direction and cadence for your venues
- Contribute to content creation and copywriting
- Partner with Digital and CRM to optimise performance
- Monitor results and recommend improvements
Reporting and Optimisation
- Contribute to monthly performance reporting
- Analyse campaign results and refine plans
- Ensure marketing remains commercially focused and strategically aligned
Key Requirements
- 4 to 7 years’ experience in brand or marketing roles
- Experience within hospitality, retail or lifestyle brands preferred
- Strong writing and copy editing capability
- Commercial mindset with confidence working with data and KPIs
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple venues and stakeholders
- Comfortable operating strategically while remaining hands on
- You are structured, practical and take ownership. You are collaborative, thoughtful and motivated by building distinctive brands that deliver real commercial impact.
