Six Degrees Executive are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and transform a dual‑site operation comprising a distribution warehouse and a production facility in Sydney. This is a hands‑on leadership role with a clear mandate to improve productivity, safety, service levels, and scalability. You’ll inherit an established team and two operational environments with genuine opportunities for improvement and investment support to deliver lasting change. This role reports directly to a business owner and sits on the leadership team. It will play a critical role in enabling growth without a proportional increase in headcount.

The Opportunity:
This is not a “run‑the‑business” role — it’s a build, improve, and optimise role.
Key focus areas include:
  • Modernising warehouse operations (bin locations, scanning, inventory discipline)
  • Reducing picking errors and labour inefficiencies
  • Improving production flow, finishing, assembly, and packaging efficiency
  • Shortening order‑to‑dispatch and sample lead times
  • Embedding strong WHS, 5S, and workplace standards across both sites. 

Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
  • Lead daily operations across warehousing, production, and inventory
  • Coach, develop, and align a team of ~10–12 across two sites
  • Implement fit‑for‑purpose processes, standards, and KPIs
  • Ensure WHS compliance and a visible safety‑first culture
Warehouse Transformation
  • Design and implement a bin location system
  • Introduce barcode scanning and pick‑face control
  • Reduce picking errors to benchmark levels
  • Improve productivity and support team right‑sizing through efficiency gains
Production & Throughput Improvement
  • Identify and remove bottlenecks in finishing, assembly, and packaging
  • Improve order‑to‑ship and sample fulfilment lead times
  • Assess and implement selective automation where appropriate
Inventory, Logistics & Cost Control
  • Ensure inventory accuracy and ERP alignment
  • Manage freight and transport provider relationships
  • Control labour, freight, and operational costs within budget
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, and Finance
  • Consistently achieve OTIF / DIFOT service targets
  • Report performance and progress against agreed milestones.

The successful candidate will possess
  • 5+ years’ experience in operations, warehouse, or production management
  • Proven experience leading warehouse or operational improvement programs
  • Strong WHS knowledge and experience embedding safety culture
  • Demonstrated ability to improve productivity in manual or semi‑automated environments
  • ERP/WMS experience and strong operational data literacy
  • Confident people leader with clear, practical communication style
Desirable
  • Lean, 5S, Six Sigma or similar practical experience
  • Experience managing dual‑site operations
  • Background in manufacturing, distribution, or building materials
