An established and growing Australian technology-led manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead and scale its engineering function.
This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for setting technical direction, developing high‑performing teams, and ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, compliant products across mechanical, electrical and software disciplines.
The Opportunity Reporting into the executive team, you will take ownership of the engineering function, balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on technical oversight. You’ll play a key role in product development, systems integration, process improvement and long‑term technology road‑mapping while mentoring and growing a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage and develop a cross‑discipline engineering team, fostering strong performance, capability growth and succession.
  • Own engineering resourcing, capability planning, performance management and departmental budgeting.
  • Drive continuous improvement through new engineering practices, tools, systems and technologies.
  • Oversee project management across core product lines, including planning, risk management, lifecycle management and reporting.
  • Work closely with Product, Commercial and Operations leaders to align engineering delivery with business and customer needs.
  • Lead systems integration, design reviews, architecture decisions and quality improvements.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s long‑term technology strategy.
About You
  • Degree qualified in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or similar).
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams in a complex product or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in multidisciplinary engineering and systems integration.
  • Experience working within regulated or compliance‑driven environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic leadership with hands‑on technical involvement.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Commercially minded, with experience managing budgets, resources and delivery timelines.
