Chief Commercial Officer
The Organisation
The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) is one of Australia’s most prestigious sporting and entertainment organisations and the home of the world-renowned Melbourne Cup Carnival. Established in 1864, the VRC has built a global reputation for delivering world-class racing, hospitality, events and member experiences at the iconic Flemington Racecourse.
The organisation is entering an exciting new phase of transformation focused on commercial growth, customer-centricity, innovation and maximising the potential of its 127-hectare precinct beyond race days. With a strategic focus on growing membership, diversifying revenue streams and enhancing the year-round utilisation of Flemington, the VRC is investing in new capabilities across analytics, customer experience and hospitality.
This includes a newly appointed hospitality partnership with Delaware North, alongside a growing focus on data-led decision making and modern product development practices.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Commercial Officer is a critical executive leadership role responsible for leading the VRC’s commercial, product and membership functions. With leadership responsibility for a diverse commercial & product team this role carries accountability for the majority of the organisation’s revenue generation and growth strategy.
The CCO will play a pivotal role in shaping the future commercial direction of the VRC by driving:
• Membership acquisition, retention and engagement strategies
• Corporate partnerships and commercial sales performance
• Product development and customer experience outcomes
• Precinct activation and non-race day utilisation opportunities
• Revenue diversification initiatives across the broader business
• Alignment between commercial, marketing and operational functions
A key priority will be increasing race day attendance by driving innovation around product & experiences as well as continuously looking at ways to unlock the full potential of the Flemington site as a premium sporting, entertainment and community destination.
This executive will also establish a high-performing operating rhythm across the commercial organisation while fostering strong collaboration with the executive leadership team, board and key external stakeholders.
