About the role
The Head of Sustainability will focus predominantly on emissions, water, and waste initiatives, accounting for approximately 60% of their time. A significant portion of the role (20%) involves reporting and preparing papers for the global head office and other interested parties, including relationship management with regulators, executives, and boards. The remaining 20% will be dedicated to managing community outreach and initiatives, such as Clean Up Australia Day, indigenous ties, and partnerships. This role offers direct access to the CEO and CFO for executive conversations and is crucial for ensuring compliance with environmental standards and regulations.
Skills & Experience
Candidates must possess industrial experience, ideally from a manufacturing or resources sector background, An engineering qualification or background is highly advantageous for credibility with operations leadership. The role requires a very strong communicator, capable of articulating purpose, goals, and KPIs clearly, and the ability to work autonomously, running executive conversations with the CEO, CFO, and board. A deep understanding of the science behind environmental commentary, such as the workings of autoclaves, boilers, water systems, and heat exchangers, is essential. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, focused on numbers and performance against targets, and adept at influencing without authority.
