Service and CI Project Engineer

Six Degrees Executive are working with an organisation who are seeking a hands-on Service & Project Engineer to support and optimise high-performance machinery across customer sites. This is a diverse role combining field service, technical engineering, and project delivery—ideal for someone who enjoys both problem-solving on the tools and managing projects end-to-end.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring equipment performance, driving continuous improvement, and delivering engineering solutions across installation, commissioning, maintenance, and upgrades.
Key Responsibilities include:

Field Service & Technical Support
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of packaging machinery
  • Deliver root cause analysis (5 Why) and drive issue resolution
  • Support customers with performance improvements and technical advice
  • Produce detailed service reports and close out actions
Project Delivery
  • Manage machinery projects from concept through to commissioning
  • Define scope including specifications, timelines, installation and testing
  • Coordinate transport, installation, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing)
  • Oversee commissioning, training and final handover
Maintenance & Reliability
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules
  • Conduct machine audits and recommend performance improvements
  • Ensure spare parts planning aligns with shutdown schedules
  • Drive reliability and operational efficiency across customer sites
Customer Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with operators, maintenance teams and management
  • Provide training (technical & operational) with structured assessments
  • Identify opportunities for upgrades, retrofits and improvements
Spare Parts & Resource Management
  • Manage spare parts inventory and customer requirements
  • Coordinate subcontractors and specialist resources when required
  • Oversee project costs, quotations and contractor performance
Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with OH&S, GMP, HACCP and site safety standards
  • Conduct safety audits and provide formal reports
  • Maintain a strong “Safety First” culture across all activities
You are a proactive, solutions-focused engineer who thrives in a customer-facing, hands-on role.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Trade qualified in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong experience within packaging, manufacturing, or production environments
  • Proven fault-finding and troubleshooting capability
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Knowledge of PLC systems (or willingness to develop)
  • Experience with pneumatic, motors, gearboxes, and process equipment
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
