Company Description This high growth residential property developer has a significant track record of delivering in a short period of time. One of their key aims is to fulfil the need for more affordable housing, and this growing area of demand has seen them achieve rapid and significant growth. As a result, they have grown to a size where the need for their first CFO is required.
 
Role Description The CFO role is a full-time and on-site opportunity based in Melbourne's inner suburbs, and is responsible for leading the overall financial strategy, planning, and performance of the organisation. The CFO will oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning, ensuring alignment with business objectives and growth strategies. This role will manage the preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial statements and reports, providing clear insights and recommendations to the executive team and Board. The CFO will lead a small finance team, which will continue to be built out over time, implement robust financial controls, and ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring cash flow, managing risk, optimising capital structure, evaluating investments and feasibility reports, supporting commercial decision-making, and partnering with the Founders to drive profitability and operational efficiency. You will work closely with a small existing team, as well as outsourced professional advisory firms as required.
 
Background & Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Finance, with proven experience in senior financial leadership or CFO roles in property / real estate.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Financial Planning and budgeting, including forecasting and scenario analysis.
  • The ability to interpret and present complex data.
  • Highly developed Analytical Skills to evaluate business performance, assess risk, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CA/CPA, or equivalent professional certification.
  • Experience leading and developing finance teams, with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
  • Proven track record in cash flow management, financial controls, governance, and compliance within mid-to-large organisations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to partner effectively with all stakeholders.
