The Northern Territory Government has set a clear direction for the Territory's future; one in which every Territory child and adult has access to a high-quality education, from the early years through to adulthood. The Department of Education and Training (DET) is the principal vehicle for delivering on that commitment, providing education and training across urban, regional and remote communities within a uniquely diverse and complex environment. As DET enters a new phase of its development, an exceptional opportunity has arisen for an accomplished executive to lead the Department as Chief Executive Officer.
Reporting to the Minister for Education, the CEO will translate the Territory Government's education priorities into action; setting and implementing the long-term strategic direction for the Territory's education and training system. This means providing timely strategic policy and planning advice, assessing educational needs and performance across early childhood, schooling, and vocational education and training services, and driving continuous improvement in the quality, access and safety of education delivery, particularly in regional and remote communities. Building and leading a large, dispersed workforce, embedding strong governance, and harnessing innovation will be equally central. Underpinning all of this are the trusted partnerships with industry, government, and Territory communities essential to improving education and training outcomes.
You will be an accomplished senior executive with a proven track record leading highly complex organisations in education or large-scale service delivery environments, with a strong understanding of the particular challenges of delivering services across regional and remote settings. Bringing strong operational, financial and workforce management capability, including experience leading large workforces, you will demonstrate a deep understanding of governance and the ability to drive meaningful organisational and cultural change. Recognised for exceptional stakeholder engagement, you will be equally comfortable advising government, working alongside educators and school leaders, and building trusted relationships with Territorians. Above all, you will bring the resilience, sound judgement and emotional intelligence to lead through complexity and change, in pursuit of better education outcomes across the Territory.
This is a career-defining opportunity to shape the future of public education across one of Australia's most diverse and dynamic jurisdictions.
