Senior Business Development Manager (NSW)

Location: sydney
Salary: $150000 - $190000 per annum
Job Type: permanent
Contact: Phillip Ferreira
The opportunity:
We are representing a well-established Australian manufacturer with a strong reputation for designing and building premium, bespoke trailers for the transport and logistics sector.
The business is entering an important growth phase and is looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to take ownership of the New South Wales market. This is a genuine opportunity to build on an established customer base, reconnect with past customers and uncover new opportunities across a broad range of transport operators.

There is plenty of untapped potential in the territory, making this role well suited to someone who enjoys opening doors, building relationships and turning conversations into commercial outcomes.

The role:
This is a standalone, highly visible sales role. You will spend most of your time in the field, meeting customers, identifying opportunities and developing relationships across the NSW transport and logistics market.
You will be supported by the NSW Team and Melbourne head office with a team of experienced Sales Engineers who will assist with technical scoping, product configuration and customer proposals. You do not need to be an engineer, but you will need enough technical curiosity to understand how customers operate and identify the right solution for their requirements.

What you’ll do:
  • Develop new business across New South Wales through targeted field-based sales activity.
  • Reconnect with existing and lapsed customers and strengthen long-term relationships.
  • Identify opportunities with small operators, privately owned fleets, mid-market businesses and selected larger accounts.
  • Generate leads, qualify opportunities and manage the sales process through to close.
  • Understand customer requirements and work with sales engineers to scope suitable trailer solutions.
  • Present bespoke product options and clearly communicate the commercial value to customers.
  • Maintain regular contact with prospects throughout the quoting and decision-making process.
  • Build a strong local network across transport, logistics, fleet and related industrial markets.
  • Provide accurate market feedback to the broader business.
  • Work towards a first-year target of approximately six to eight trailer units per month.
The products:
The core product range includes curtain siders and skeletal trailers, supported by a broader offering that includes trailer rentals, used equipment, spare parts and servicing.
The business is recognised for producing premium equipment, providing responsive technical support and developing practical solutions for complex transport requirements. Its capability includes tailored solutions, certification support and assistance with PBS-related requirements.

About you:
You are a commercially driven B2B salesperson who is comfortable working independently and spending most days in front of customers. You may have sold into transport, logistics, packaging, waste, materials handling, industrial equipment or another related sector.
  • A strong record of new business development and account growth.
  • Confidence finding your own leads rather than relying solely on inbound enquiries.
  • Resilience and persistence when working through a long or complex sales process.
  • The ability to build rapport with customers across different business sizes and backgrounds.
  • Commercial awareness and confidence discussing pricing, specifications and delivery requirements.
  • Enough technical aptitude to understand customer needs and scope a solution with internal support.
  • A practical, hands-on approach and a willingness to be visible in the market.
  • The self-motivation to manage your own territory, pipeline and activity levels.
This is not a highly structured corporate sales environment. You’ll be joining a hands-on Australian business where relationships, responsiveness and practical problem-solving matter.
The territory already has a strong platform, but it needs someone energetic and commercially hungry to make the most of it. You’ll have the freedom to get out into the market, engage directly with customers and shape the NSW growth plan.
