Our precinct welcomes millions of guests each year, and we show up for every one of them. Behind every experience is a team operating at pace and with purpose, working together to create the unforgettable.

As Melbourne Park continues to evolve into a connected, year-round destination for live experiences, we're investing in new capability to strengthen how we engage with audiences, stakeholders and the wider community. As part of this investment, we're seeking an experienced media professional to lead and evolve our media relations, publicity and earned media capability through a newly created Media & Publicity Manager role.

About the role
Reporting to the Head of Communications & Stakeholder Relations, you'll lead Melbourne Park's media relations, publicity and earned media function, identifying compelling stories, building trusted journalist relationships and shaping the public narrative for one of Australia's leading sport and entertainment destinations.

This is an opportunity to strengthen Melbourne Park's proactive earned media capability while maintaining best-practice media relations, reactive media management, issues and crisis communications, and media governance within a dynamic, high-profile organisation.

In this role, you will:

  • Build strong relationships with journalists and key media outlets.
  • Identify and shape stories across events, partnerships and precinct activity to build a stronger pipeline of proactive earned media.
  • Support executive media engagement, spokesperson preparation and organisational announcements.
  • Lead reactive media management, issues and crisis communications across major events and organisational priorities.
  • Coordinate media activity with promoters, sporting clubs, commercial partners and agencies.
  • Monitor and evaluate media performance to inform future communications activity and demonstrate organisational impact.

About you
You're a strategic media and communications professional with exceptional news judgement, strong journalist relationships and a natural instinct for identifying stories.

You'll thrive in this role if you're naturally curious, enjoy finding stories others miss and can confidently build relationships across both newsrooms and executive teams.

You'll bring:
  • Significant experience in Media Relations, Corporate Affairs or Public Relations.
  • Demonstrated success securing proactive earned media across multiple channels.
  • Strong existing relationships across Australian media.
  • Experience supporting executives through media engagement, spokesperson preparation and complex or sensitive issues.
  • Strong understanding of reputation management, issues and crisis communications.
  • Excellent writing, communication and media management skills.

  • Free 24/7 wellbeing support through Sonder.
  • Access to employee ticketing programs.
  • Free onsite parking.
