National Sales Manager - Building Materials

Lead the next chapter of growth for local subsidiary of a global building materials manufacturer

About the Company:
Our client is a global manufacturer of structural building materials, supplying both the residential and commercial markets. They've built their reputation the right way, through quality product, strong relationships, and a genuinely family-focused culture that's refreshingly free of corporate red tape. Think casual, driven, and down-to-earth, with a team that shows up for each other as much as for the work.

Right now, they're navigating a market reset, and rather than sitting still, they're using it as a launchpad. Their sights are set firmly on the commercial project sector, an area bursting with opportunity, and they're looking for the right person to help them seize it. Their work speaks for itself: high-end residential builds, sporting precincts and high-profile stadiums, education facilities, hospitality, and retail fit outs, plus a strong presence in the hardware and trade channel. They partner with developers, builders, architects, and project managers who trust them to deliver on key projects that matter.

About the Role:
Have you been running a state or regional patch and feel ready for the next step? This is a genuine first-time National Sales Manager opportunity,  the kind that doesn't come around often, the next step in your career you have been looking for!

You'll take the reins of a talented, tenured team spread across SA, WA, QLD, NSW, and VIC, with State Managers reporting directly to you and sales reps indirectly. You'll also keep a close eye on the Victorian sales landscape. Your mission: build and execute a national sales strategy that puts commercial project growth front and centre. This isn't a role where you sit back and watch dashboards. You'll be in the thick of it, shoulder to shoulder with your team on major projects, building relationships with architects, builders, and developers, and bringing structure to the sales function through standardised processes and better CRM adoption (HubSpot). You'll partner closely with operations, marketing, and finance, and you'll have a direct line to the CEO as part of the local leadership team.

What You'll Bring:
You're a proven sales leader from the building materials world, with real runs on the board in the commercial sector, not just residential. You know what it takes to sell and lead teams supplying structural materials into major projects: schools, stadiums, shopping centres, councils, developers. You know how to coach, mentor, and bring a team along with you, not just manage them.

Importantly, this role is designed for someone stepping up into national leadership for the first time, so if you've excelled in a large state or regional role and you're hungry for the next challenge, this is built for you. (This one's not a fit for General Managers or Heads of Sales coming from big corporate structures.

Why You'll Love the role!
This is a business that genuinely feels like family, one where a positive attitude and real energy go a long way. You'll inherit an experienced, tenured team who are ready to be led through change, and you'll have real scope to shape how they think and work day-to-day. One minute you might be talking shop with a builder/developer, the next presenting to an architect or project manager and you'll have the trust and flexibility to adapt your style to whoever's in front of you. As part of the senior leadership team, you will have full autonomy to shape the go to market strategy of this growing business.

On top of a competitive base salary (tailored to your experience), you'll receive an $18,000 car allowance plus eTag and fuel card, and an annual bonus tied to company and team performance. It's a role with real influence, real growth potential, and a company that's genuinely excited about where it's headed.
