Job Title: Business Manager
This highly awarded second generation family-owned business was established 30+ years ago, over the past decade, the company has experienced significant growth, tripling its revenue. As one of Australia's largest importers of technical food ingredients. The company prides itself on a small, dedicated and long tenured employee base, many of whom have been with us for over 10 years, fostering a culture that values longevity and expertise. With a recent rebranding and a significant investment in a state-of-the-art NPD Lab, they are also investing heavily in marketing and are currently in a growth phase, planning to expand the sales team significantly in the coming years.
About the role:
This Business Manager will be responsible for end-to-end commercial management, spanning from the procurement of industrial food ingredients to sales across Australian and New Zealand confectionery, bakery, dairy, nutraceuticals, and beverage manufacturers. This role requires a commercially driven operator who can navigate global supply chains, understand technical ingredient applications, and build strong partnerships with existing and prospective customers. Key responsibilities include owning customer relationships, successfully contracting and re-contracting customers, identifying opportunities through customer NPD activities, and managing established accounts for strategic growth. While the primary focus is on customer management and sales strategy, the role also encompasses elements of international and local procurement, with a long-term goal of managing both supplier and customer sides of the business. The Business Manager will report directly to the Managing Director and will play a crucial role in contributing to the team's sales efforts and overall business expansion.
Skills & Experience:
They are seeking a candidate with proven experience in B2B ingredient sales, food manufacturing supply, and global sourcing, with more than 5 years of experience. Essential skills include a strong understanding of industrial food ingredients, specifications, and quality requirements, along with demonstrated success in negotiating supply agreements. The ideal candidate will possess commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets, pricing, and P&L, and the ability to interpret market data, commodity trends, and supply chain risks. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are crucial for engaging with diverse cultures, departments, and functions. Experience managing major large enterprise customers, as is an existing network and understanding within Australian food manufacturing market. Exposure to ERP systems, particularly HubSpot or similar CRM, is also a plus.
