Our client is a major Australian retailer who is entering the delivery phase of a significant merchandise, supply chain and distribution centre transformation, and we're looking for an experienced Solution Lead to help make it happen.

The discovery, planning and concept work has been completed. The focus now shifts firmly to solution design, implementation and delivery.

This is a senior but hands-on architecture role, working closely with internal technology and business teams, a Technical Project Manager, Business Analyst and key vendors to take the solution through detailed design, integration, testing, deployment and operational readiness.

The opportunity:
You'll lead the architecture and support the technical delivery of key Merchandise Automation and Distribution Centre initiatives, sitting across merchandise, supply chain and DC operations.

This isn't a role for someone who wants to operate purely at strategy level. We're looking for an experienced architect who can provide senior technical leadership while still being comfortable getting into the detail and driving delivery.

You'll be responsible for:
  • Leading end-to-end solution architecture, design governance and key technical decisions
  • Defining target-state architecture, integration and implementation approaches and the cutover roadmap
  • Working closely with internal technology teams, business stakeholders and external vendors
  • Facilitating technical and business workshops and turning requirements into practical solution designs
  • Producing architecture artefacts, integration designs and key technical documentation
  • Identifying and managing technical risks and dependencies
  • Supporting testing, deployment and operational readiness
  • Ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture, security and operational standards
The role spans Merchandise, Supply Chain, Distribution Centre Operations, Technology and vendor teams, so the ability to bring different stakeholders together and keep delivery moving will be critical.

What we're looking for:

Retail experience is essential.

You'll ideally be a senior Solution Architect, Technical Architect or Technical Lead who brings a strong combination of architecture leadership, retail domain knowledge and hands-on delivery capability.

You'll bring:
  • Strong retail, merchandise and supply chain experience
  • Solid understanding of warehouse and distribution centre environments
  • Experience across warehouse management, labelling, automation or DC technologies
  • Strong integration architecture experience
  • Proven ability to work across internal teams and third-party vendors
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
  • The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior business and executive stakeholders
  • A willingness to remain hands-on and close to delivery
