Operations Manager – Bulk Fertiliser Depot
Mackay, QLD | Permanent, Full-Time

Fertiliser moving through this Mackay depot needs to reach growers on time, every season, and the person running the site leads that work from the floor.
Our client is a long-established, family-owned agribusiness with an international presence across fertiliser production, trading and distribution.
Their Mackay site is a bulk depot with an annual throughput of 30,000–40,000 tonnes.
They are now seeking an Operations Manager to take full accountability for the site.

The Role
Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will be the accountable person on site, responsible for safety, people and day-to-day operations.
This is a hands-on role. You will be expected to jump on the loader or forklift during peak periods, cover any job on site when needed, and lead your team by working alongside them.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Planning and coordinating the receival, storage and dispatch of bulk fertiliser products safely and on time
  • Leading WHS on site and maintaining a strong safety culture
  • Coaching and developing the site team, including regular performance feedback
  • Scheduling plant and equipment maintenance to minimise downtime
  • Managing site records, compliance and Chain of Responsibility obligations
  • Working with sales, customer service, transport contractors and shipping to keep product moving and customers informed
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage the P&L of the site

About You
  • Supervisory or people leadership experience in bulk handling, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or production
  • A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to perform the operational work alongside your team
  • FEL and forklift licence (or willingness to obtain) and a current driver’s licence
  • Trade qualification, relevant TAFE certificate or equivalent industry knowledge
  • Confidence with Microsoft Office and business systems
  • Availability to work outside normal hours during peak season
  • An honest, approachable leadership style and a track record of following through on your commitments

This opportunity suits an experienced site or depot manager, or a production supervisor or production manager ready to step up into full site accountability.

What’s On Offer
  • Competitive salary package
  • Autonomy to run your own site
  • A permanent role with a stable, family-owned international business
