This is an exciting time in the energy industry with the transition to renewable energy. Recent government policy documents outline plans to facilitate increasing transmission interconnection between states and development of renewable energy zones.

The Investment Sponsor will be responsible for ensuring all prescribed network capital investments deliver the objectives that address the needs identified by concept owners. The Investment Sponsor provides leadership and governance by establishing a single point of coordination between concept owners and all other relevant stakeholders in the business throughout the entire network investment life cycle from need identification to the project close out. The role focuses on providing sponsorship and coordination of the portfolio of projects from need identifications to decision gate approvals. The role also provides assurance on optimisation/prioritisation, efficiency, and management of changes throughout the project investment life cycle.
  • The Investment Sponsor is responsible for:
  • Leading the provision of sponsorship and monitoring of the prescribed network capital investment (augmentation, contingent projects, replacement, and NCIPAP).
  •  Leading the provision of advice and guidance during the investment stage (from needs creation to project close-out) to ensure prudence and efficiency in the prescribed network capital investment. This includes management of option investigations and screening and management of changes in the scope, time and cost of all investments to ensure the variances are reasonable and efficient from the consumers’ perspective.
  • Leading the provision of the prescribed network capital investment process documentations and ensuring that all relevant stakeholders adhere to the Prescribed Network Capital Investment Process.
  •  Leading the provision of sound and effective portfolio management of TransGrid’s network projects and programs to ensure the network portfolio is delivered within the defined schedules and budgets (including the annual budget).
  • Coordinating the initiation and development of the prescribed network CAPEX program for revenue reset and 3-10 years rolling window), Reporting directly to Asset Works Program Strategy Manager the Investment Sponsor will prepare and present monthly reports for the Asset Management leadership team and the Portfolio Planning Committee to ensure information on progress of assigned projects is reported and tracked appropriately and in alignment with the organisation’s objectives.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

Tertiary qualifications at degree level or in a relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience

  • Proven business acumen and planning skills in project management, program administration, and reporting.
  • Extensive experience in engineering project management in the energy industry and / or delivery of high voltage transmission capital projects with high external visibility
  •  Highly developed proven experience in directing leading multiple teams simultaneously.
  • Strong capability in communicating to senior internal and external stakeholders.   • Thorough understanding of the Regulatory approvals process associated with high voltage transmission assets in NSW.
  •  Strong conceptual, intellectual, and strategic ability, capable of clear innovative thought processes and solutions to complex issues.
  • Substantive experience in the approval of detailed project programs and cost estimates for project.s
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and superior oral and written communication skills to provide specialist technical advice.
