An Australian subsidiary of a global manufacturing & engineering powerhouse, this business has an incredibly strong brand with major miners worldwide with a reputation for product excellence in key areas of safety, critical communications, electric and electronics, sensors and controls as well as complete & specialised solutions for conveyor systems - all designed for the harshest and most hazardous environments. With local R&D and assembly, the Australian subsidiary is under the new leadership of an impressive MD who's built a vision for growth into adjacent growth sectors in mining such as lithium as well as leveraging the brand into markets such as civil construction where the range of solutions has not only applications but also unique competitive advantage of highly engineered safety solutions.
The Role
Leading a small but growing team focused on key mining markets in WA, NSW & QLD, this national sales leadership role will bring structure, direction and a hands-on approach to developing the market and building a more proactive, high performance sales culture in conjunction with the Managing Director and supported by global teams. Whilst the business is highly profitable with repeat and loyal customers who value the quality solutions, there's an incredibly rare amount of low-hanging fruit and opportunity for growth (I've rarely seen so much growth potential). Initially implementing the 101's of sales: budgets, KPI's, market plans and proactively working with current distributors, the role will evolve to more strategic growth of bringing on new distributors, identifying potential channel partners and leveraging eisting customers to open up adjacent mining markets - the vision for this business is compelling. It has all the right elements for a driven, commercial and energetic leader to really leave a legacy and make a huge impact.
The Person
To be considered for this role you will currently be a sales leader who has extensive experience in the mining sector (both direct to major minors as well as distributors), ideally leading small, solutions focused sales teams and looking to take the next stage in your career. The client in this case would prefer tertiary qualifications and a passion for engineering and technical solutions will be essential as will a polished communication style, strong commercial acumen including the ability to analyse sales and customer data for trends and opportunities, a strategic mindset and stong achievement drive and resilience. The culture of this business has a family feel with long tenured, highly specialised teams including R&D and engineers so critical you'll be inclusive & highly collaborative but relaxed in your leadership style and lead from the front, setting the right & positive behaviours to model. You'll be able to focus on the customer and what's important without being distracted by the noise, with the ability to prioritise what's important for now. No ego's please.
