Our client is a small goods food manufacturer based in the Southeast suburbs in Clayton. 


About the role
The Cost Accountant role reports into the General Manager - Finance and is responsible for cost accounting as well as partnering with your colleagues on the factory floor to further understand how to make improvements. You will be a driving force in the implementation of a new ERP system as the P&L will be cost driven so you will take a big part in this project. In addition, the role is responsible for:
  • Managing production labour plan, overhead costs, cost of goods sold, utilities and raw material costing
  • Costing BOM, performance reporting (yields, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), labour)
  • Strong understanding of the current financial accounting processes and ensuring financial requirements across financial and regulatory reporting are documented
  • Providing analysis and commentary to senior management team
  • KPI reporting, weekly reporting to senior management 
  • Ad Hoc duties as required

About you
You have strong experience in manufacturing as a cost accountant or business analyst, with strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with colleagues on the factory floor and reporting to senior management on a weekly basis. You are excited by the prospect of working on an ERP implementation and supporting the business with this project. 
  • Manufacturing experience is required
  • Software is Tencia, with the new ERP Netsuite being implemented - software experience is not necessary as all training will be provided for both
  • Experience in working in a factory based setting, where you understand how to improve raw material percentage and yield
  • You enjoy telling the story behind the numbers and being a finance business partner to your stakeholders 
  • Strong Excel skills are required as the role is largely based in Excel
