Head of Procurement (step up)

About the company 

Our client is rapidly growing FMCG organisation seeking a highly motivated and experienced procurement manager to step into a Head of Procurement role to establish the procurement function for the organisation, focused on direct commodities initially. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will report into the CFO and play a critical role in shaping the future of the company and ensuring its continued growth and success. Modern offices in the South Eastern suburbs and offering hybrid work arrangements – ideally 3 days in the office.  
 
Key Responsibilities 
  • Develop and execute the procurement strategy that delivers cost savings, risk reduction, and value creation for the organisation.
  • Lead the procurement team (4 people) and provide guidance, support, and direction to ensure their success and the success of the procurement function.
  • Develop strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiate contracts and ensure the timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Ensure procurement policies and processes are in place and adhered to, ensuring a high level of integrity and transparency.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand their needs and ensure that procurement activities align with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends and best practices in procurement and continuously strive to improve processes and results.
 
Skills and Experience 
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement within FMCG environments.
  • Experience within direct categories including fresh produce, ingredients, packaging is a must
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to develop and implement effective procurement strategies.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with a track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve their full potential.
  • A deep understanding of procurement processes, with experience in contract management, supplier selection, and supplier performance management.
  • Ideally Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
