About the role:
 
This role is working within a State Government department to provide operational advice and support relating to the delivery of financial services to a cross-section of departmental clients. It will assist to monitor and maintain the operational integrity of assigned accounting practices and procedures to achieve excellence in the provision of financial services to the departments clients.
The AO6 role will support the Team Leader and Manager of Tax directly. Open to candidates from private or government backgrounds. 
 
Selection criteria:
 
Must have tax knowledge and experience including tax advisory, good research, analytical and communication skills with attention to detail and a team player. Audit experience will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities include:
  • Assist in the preparation of our Department’s consolidated annual FBT return and GST taxation compliance reviews.
  • Assist in providing taxation advice to Corporate Business areas.
  • Undertake research to adequately respond to tax legislation changes, new public sector
    financial management and budgetary initiatives.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams involved in providing financial services.
  • Resolve problems and assist in the development and implementation of financial processes and systems, which focus on best practice, to achieve real and measurable change and productivity improvements.
  • Prepare briefing material, correspondence and reports for senior departmental officers on financial management issues.
  • Undertake financial analysis and financial planning to support the achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Monitor finance activities to ensure compliance with legislation, policies and standards.
  • Implement and monitor finance service standards in consultation with clients to ensure their needs are met.
  • Participate in the preparation of unit operational plans and other specialised finance projects.
  • Liaise with departmental officers and other government and private organisations
