ABOUT

We are recruiting for an exciting Principal Finance Officer contract role for one of our State Government clients. As Principal Finance Officer you will provide specialist advice and input into the research, analysis and implementation of operational financial processes including accounts payable, taxation, accounts receivable and banking across the department including identifying opportunities for process automation, compliance reviews, interpreting legislation, drafting of financial policies and procedures in a manner that meet business needs and is customer focussed.

This role will work in a large Accounts Payable team supporting the Manager as a “do-er” and technical expert. The ideal candidate will have experience in front-to-end AP functions and working with corporate credit cards. This role will assist in various automation processes and projects related to digitization. Data analysis and reporting will also be a key feature of the remit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor various operational financial processes which may include accounts payable, taxation, accounts receivable and banking services in consultation with clients to ensure business and periodic reporting needs are met.  
  • Provide accurate, and timely high-level financial advice and direction in relation to financial services, to assist clients and stakeholders to achieve organisational outcomes, consistent with financial management requirements.
  • Research, develop, and implement business improvement solutions relating to various operational financial services including accounts payable, taxation, accounts receivable and banking operations for the department, ensuring compliance with relevant State and Federal legislation, directives, standards and departmental policies.
SELECTION CRITERIA
  • SAP - essential
  • Excel - essential
  • ProMaster, CBA systems, project or system improvements as a SME etc (highly regarded)
  • Data analytical skills (trend analysis and reporting)
  • Project management experience
  • Government experience in a similar role (highly regarded)
  • Excellent soft and people skills
