Governance and Risk Manager
We are partnering with one of our Higher Education clients looking for their next Governance and Risk Manager. This exciting role works closely with the most senior leaders of the University and offers the right person with the ability to shape their career under the mentorship of senior leaders withing the sector.
OVERVIEW OF GOVERNANCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT
The Governance and Risk Management function sits within the portfolio of the Vice-Chancellor and President and is responsible for the development and maintenance of the University’s Governance and Risk Management frameworks and processes. This includes facilitating reporting to the University Council and its Committees and the management of the University’s Policy Framework. Areas within Governance and Risk Management include Risk Management and Compliance, Legal Services, Internal Audit and the University Secretariat. The University Secretariat provides governance and secretariat support to facilitate the running and operation of the University Council and its Committees (Council Secretariat) and Academic Board and its standing Committees (Academic Secretariat).
NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of activities for the Council Secretariat, providing high level support to the University Council and delivering expert advice to the Chancellor, Council and Executive staff on issues, trends and policy matters relating to University Governance.

FUNCTIONS OF THIS ROLE
- Working closely with the Chancellor, Deputy-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor and President to maintain strong and productive relationships between Council and senior management,
- preparing agendas, submissions and minutes for meetings, implementing follow up actions, managing the application and implementation of the University’s Schedule of Delegations and acting as Returning Officer for Council Elections.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL
- Demonstrate extensive relevant management experience and expertise.
- Demonstrate prior experience a similar role with functionality across:
- Risk Management
- Compliance
- Policy Development
- Legal Services
- Internal Audit
