ABOUT:

Six Degrees Executive is partnering with a State Government client to recruit an exciting and unique opportunity for a Senior HR professional to support their team with a number of BAU and HR initiatives. As a senior member of the People and Culture team you will work closely with your Director, peers and internal and external clients to deliver trusted HR advice, services, projects and capability development initiatives that support the department's strategic and operational objectives. A key focus of this role will be to lead the activation of the Department's Strategic Workforce Plan including delivery of actions related to the recruitment and retention of First Nations’ people at the organisation and activities that will enhance cultural capability for all employees. There will also be a large piece of work in the assistance developing and setting up numerous HR policies and procedures. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing expert advice to senior managers by interpreting and applying public sector legislation, directives, policies and agreements, particularly regarding complex and sensitive employment relations matters, case management and change programs
  • Collaborating and contributing to the effective delivery of HR solutions, including improving the use of HR metrics to inform and drive business improvement
  • Delivering high-quality services, projects and initiatives that meet the needs of the Department’s service commitments and contribute toward creating a positive and productive work environment
  • Drawing on business knowledge, workforce data and other information sources to identify, develop and implement long-term strategies to address emerging workforce issues and build workforce capability, staff engagement and culture
  • Delivering high-quality verbal presentations and written submissions, briefs and correspondence, including the ability to communicate sensitive and strategic issues to a variety of stakeholders
  • Working effectively with colleagues and peers while contributing to a productive and positive work environment in times of change and uncertainty. This includes being a proactive member of the People and Culture branch and an active participant in Corporate Governance and Operations portfolio planning and initiatives
  • Leading the development, implementation and review of projects and capability development initiatives in accordance with our Strategic Workforce Plan to support the Department’s strategic and operational objectives
  • Actively implementing Queensland public sector strategic workforce priorities into Department policy, procedures and business activities
