National Intermodal is an independent developer of critical logistics infrastructure, facilitating the Australian Government's significant investment into world class, open access intermodal terminals across the east coast. As a Government Business Enterprise, National Intermodal are wholly owned by the Commonwealth of Australia and have a strategic priority to improve supply chain resilience, increase logistics efficiency and improve sustainability. This is one of the most significant domestic infrastructure projects of the next decade and a truly transformational project in supply chain delivery.

Six Degrees Executive are exclusively recruiting for a newly created position within the Safety function, working closely with a range of stakeholders to ensure safe project delivery and governance.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the GM of Work Health and Safety, the Senior WHS Advisor is a critical role building out safety systems capability as National Intermodal enters the build and delivery phase of the Beveridge terminal. The role will be key in facilitating National Intermodal'sa active client approach to contractor management, working with a range of internal stakeholders and delivery partners including Engineering, Construction, Project Management, EPCs, Delivery Partners and senior leadership. 
The role will be required to cover a range of responsibilities throughout the delivery phase, with some of the key ones being:
  • Providing input and supporting the implementation of the WHS strategy across the business
  • Ensuring organisational-wide compliance with relevant WHS legislation, regulations, industry standards and National Intermodal policies
  • Development and delivery of precinct and project specific WHS management plans, procedures, guidelines and training 
  • Support WHS reporting and performance across the employee or contractor workforce including incident investigation

Skills and Experience Required:

Given the critical importance of the project it is expected that applicants will possess significant safety experience in a construction or rail oriented industry, preferably within a large project or infrastructure sector. Experience working both client side and contractor side would be highly advantageous for the role, as you will have an intimate understanding of the nature of a major project build from different lenses. 

Your will understand the complexities of shared risk with multiple delivery partners, have a strong eye for detail and capability to help build a fit for purpose safety management system in line with National Intermodal requirements. Experience in rail, freight and/or large infrastructure projects will be highly relevant in supporting strategic rollout and understanding the build and operating model. Tertiary qualifications in OH&S or similar would be beneficial.
