Remedy Drinks needed a Global Digital Manager to cover a 12-month maternity leave contract - someone with strong experience across eCommerce, digital media, social and marketplaces, ideally with an FMCG background. They had already gone to market directly and had candidates at interview stage.
What they wanted from us was a benchmark - who else was out there, and how their shortlist compared.
The Challenge
Remedy had a shortlist and a deadline, but no view of the wider market. They needed options in front of them within days, not weeks, and they wanted to know how their direct applicants stood against candidates they hadn't reached. The requirement was speed without any trade-off on quality - a benchmark delivered fast enough to be useful while the role was still open.
Our Approach
We took the brief late one afternoon, shared two profiles within 24 hours and introduced a third strong candidate three days later. The pace was acheivable due to having ready to work talent already in our network - people we'd screened, interviewed and stayed close to, so we knew who to put forward the moment the brief landed.
The candidates we introduced hadn't applied to Remedy's advert, despite being well aligned, because they hadn't considered contracting as an option. One of them, a candidate Remedy liked, was hesitant about a 12-month contract. Rather than ruling them out, we spent time understanding what was behind the hesitation and talked through what contracting could look like and where it might lead. We were open with Remedy about where the candidate stood, which meant they understood the reservations and stayed comfortable progressing to a second interview. Alongside them we introduced another candidate of similar calibre - Remedy would have hired both if they could.
The Outcome
Within three days, Remedy had three additional candidates to weigh against their direct applicants, all available immediately and well aligned to the role. More useful than the numbers was the access - these were talented specialists their advertising hadn't reached. The candidate who had been unsure about contracting became their preferred hire, and through a second interview and some honest conversations about the opportunity, both sides grew comfortable moving forward.
"What I loved about working with Six Degrees was that they didn't just send through CV's, they genuinely partnered with us to find the right person. They took the time to understand exactly what we needed, challenged our thinking in all the right ways and introduced us to exceptional candidates we wouldn't have reached through our own advertising. They delivered multiple high-quality options quickly and helped us secure someone who's been a fantastic addition to the team. The whole process was collaborative and seamless. "
A client going to market directly doesn't close the door on what an agency can add. We know the people in our network - their background, what motivates them, what might be holding them back - so we can bring context and consult on both sides of the process rather than send across a CV.
Looking to fill a role at speed?
The best people for a contract role often aren't the ones answering the advert - sometimes they haven't thought about contracting at all. Knowing who they are, and what might make the opportunity right for them, is what lets us move fast without dropping the bar. Reach out to our team below for a confidential chat.
